Gangs battle to steal from starving refugees in Syria

A camp has formed in Syria right by the Turkish border, in Atmeh, with about 10,000 refugees. A turf war between armed gangs has erupted over control of the camp, where the theft of aid from the needy has become a key source of koriminal income. Some gangs are sectarian, backed by armed rebels, others are simple koriminals

There are few Western aid agencies in this dangerous area. Some arabpig donors have emerged but the gangs steal from all. Money designated for widows of dead FSA fighters has gone to the wrong people, while donations from arabpig donors has been skimmed off by gangs
